The Problems with Arizona's DNA Database

FBI resists scrutiny of 'matches'

DNA: GENES AS EVIDENCE A crime lab's findings raise doubts about the reliability of genetic profiles. The bureau pushes back.

State crime lab analyst Kathryn Troyer was running tests on Arizona's DNA database when she stumbled across two felons with remarkably similar genetic profiles.

The men matched at nine of the 13 locations on chromosomes, or loci, commonly used to distinguish people.

The FBI estimated the odds of unrelated people sharing those genetic markers to be as remote as 1 in 113 billion. But the mug shots of the two felons suggested that they were not related: One was black, the other white.  Read more . .

Officer Rusty Stuart Writes About Terry Wayne Smith Cover Up by Basline Taskforce

Letter from Ofc Rusty Stuart where he writes of his repeated efforts to have Terry Wayne Smith investigated further by the Baseline task force - Alex Femenia, Mike Polombo, Mike Mieslish.  Ofc Stuart also took his nearly 200-page TWS report to the county attorney's office, where it was also swept under the rug. Let's not forget Andrew Thomas is in the process of being disbarred due to abuse of power and corruption while holding that office.   Not to mention Chief Jack Harris forced to turn in his resignation also for abuse of power, corruption and fraud.  Unfortunately these investigations didn't involve the corruption directly related to the Baseline case.

Task team case manager, Alex Femenia, wouldn't even look at Smith for fear it would give Mark, or as Alex allegedly calls him, "this nigger" an alibi. (The nigger remarks was in a memo to Arpaio that the Phoenx Law Enforcement Association posted on their site.)

Here's the letter from Ofc Stuart.

Recent Article on the Baseline Case

Shanna Hogan is a local journalist who writes for Times Publications, a small local news mag. Shanna recently won the prestigious "Journalist of the Year" specifically for her work on the article regarding the cover up of Baseline suspect Terry Wayne Smith by the Baseline task team and our County Attorney's office. You can read about Shanna here: http://www.shannahogan.com/?page_id=15

She recently wrote another article after a jail interview with Mark. As always, she did a fabulous job getting the facts straight and bringing us the true story, not the garbage the police feed the local news media or the swill Paul Rubin with the Phoenix New Times spews out. Really, Paul, aren't you bound by any journalist ethics guidelines AT ALL? Paul does a great job completely misreprenting and omitting  facts, but I digress, read Shanna's article here. http://www.timespublications.com/oct10-feature1.asp
